Meet Consilium’s summer interns | 2025 edition
While many students are kicking back this summer, some of the brightest and best are taking on new challenges as interns. We caught up with our summer interns – Leah, Anneliese and Caoimhe – to find out why they chose Consilium, what they want to get out of their paid 12-week internships and what they are looking forward to most.

How are you all feeling about starting your internship with Consilium?
Leah: I’m delighted to be back at Consilium for a second summer. It’s a privilege to be welcomed back, and I’m excited to build on last year’s experience and take on new challenges.
Anneliese: Honestly, I was nervous before starting, as I hadn’t studied audit yet at university, and the office setting is completely different from anything I’ve done before. However, I’m excited to get real-world experience and learn from the talented team at Consilium.
Caoimhe: I’m really enthusiastic about this internship as it’s in the field (Tax) I would like to pursue a career in, and it allows me to gain hands-on experience.
What most excites you about this opportunity?
Anneliese: I’m looking forward to developing practical skills that will help make sense of the theory taught at university. I’m also excited about the chance to get industry experience and learn from the supportive team at Consilium.
Leah: I’m most excited about the chance to develop my skills and gain a deeper understanding of the audit process. I really admire the welcoming and supportive culture at Consilium, and I’m looking forward to working with such approachable people again.
Caoimhe: After two weeks, I have already learned so much. Not just in what I’m doing, but also the paths other people have taken to get to where they are in their careers.
What do you want to take away from your internship with Consilium?
Caoimhe: Real hands-on experience of working in an accountancy firm and the Tax team. That’s where I see my career path, and this is a great opportunity to develop new skills in that area.
Leah: I want to build on what I learned last year and develop my practical experience in audit. It is a great opportunity to learn from the experts and …
Anneliese: I really want to gain new skills and knowledge to take back to university to help with my audit studies next term, and build new relationships within the profession.
Why Consilium?
Leah: I was impressed by the supportive culture, opportunities for hands-on learning and the emphasis on professional development, which was reflected throughout the entire office. Consilium’s encouraging environment made me feel valued, which made it a no-brainer to come back!
Anneliese: I attended an insight event hosted by the ICAS Foundation and Consilium earlier this year. Everyone was so helpful and answered any questions I had about accounting and careers in accountancy. I also liked that everyone spoke highly of one another and was eager to help.
Caoimhe: I am delighted to be here as the whole team at Consilium has been so welcoming and friendly toward me. I feel there is a good work-life balance at this firm, and it is a place where people are genuinely happy to go to work.
What’s next?
Leah: After my internship, I’ll be heading back to university to finish my studies. I’m aiming to pursue a career in audit, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be supported through this internship. I’m extremely grateful to Consilium and the ICAS Foundation for their ongoing support, encouragement, and this invaluable learning experience.
Anneliese: In the autumn, I’ll be returning to university to complete my third year. I will be aiming to apply the knowledge I’ve gained at Consilium and build towards future internships and opportunities.
Caoimhe: After my internship, I will be going into my final year of Accountancy at university, and I hope to use the skills I have acquired and improved upon during my time at Consilium.
We’ll catch up with Leah, Anneliese and Caoimhe again later in the summer to find out how their internship experience with Consilium went.
